Orthodontic appliances

They are most commonly used in earlier children’s age to divert the growth of the lower jaw, eliminate unsafe habits (suckling thumb, baby pacifier, infantila swallowing…), expanded the dental onions …
As their name tells them, it is the appliances a patient puts on himself, most often at night.

monomaxilla: are worn in one jaw
bimaksnolar: cover both two jaws

Fixed orthodontic appliance is the most effective means of correcting orthodontic irregularities.

Simply put, the apparatus is used to correct the dental series of the patient and the return of each single tooth to his optimal position, which solves a problem that is not only aesthetic, but above all functional.
The fixed apparatus consists of a tile system (known as locks) that attach to the teeth by a process called “bonding” and through which an orthodontic wire is secured.

The length of orthodontic therapy depends on the complexity of the anomaly.

After the pregeld, diagnostic procedure, presenting the therapy plan, there is a fixed apparatus to install periodic controls at a 4/6/ 8 -week space depending on the therapy phase.
At the end of the active phase of therapy, after the aesthetic and function of the maximum is achieved, the fixed apparatus is taken and the retention phase in which the patient receives retainer is entered.

The retencation phase is of utmost importance in order to give the surrounding teeth structures to reorganize and lead to long -term stability of the results.

The length of orthodontic therapy depends on the complexity of the anomalies and cooperation of the patient.

The Damon system was invented by the American Dr. Dwight Damon, and today it is used all over the world.

Damon braces are self-ligating braces with an innovative closing system, which ensures optimal force transmission.

They are small and comfortable, so they are easier to maintain. Due to their small size, they cause significantly less irritation on the lips and cheeks.

Damon braces are placed on the teeth in the same way as classic metal braces. Classic appliances, where brackets are attached to the orthodontic arch with rubber bands, require the use of stronger forces to straighten the teeth. In contrast, Damon locks have a built-in closing system and a sliding mechanism, which attaches the arch to the locks. Damon braces use a different method to move teeth into proper positions. The locks are attached to the memory arch that connects the sliding supports without pressure, which normally make rubber bands on classic devices. The entire process takes place with the use of milder forces compared to devices with classic locks.

The result is a much more pleasant therapy for the patient. which lasts less than the therapy with classic metal braces.

The advantage of Damon locks are aesthetics, efficiency and comfort.

Aesthetics

  • Small locks
  • Improving the appearance of teeth and face

Efficiency

  • Application of mild forces
  • Faster therapy

Comfort

  • Shorter period of adaptation to the device
  • Smaller number of controls (every 6-8 weeks)

The demand for this type of lock is increasing, since it is given great importance to aesthetics today.

The aesthetic locks on the market are offered plastic, composite, ceramic and sapphire . The longing for as many aborts as possible, it led to the production of such aesthetic locks. Aesthetic locks are most often decided by adult patients who need orthodontic therapy, but can be installed patients of all ages.
